Help your child be heard and understood.
Speech and language therapy helps children speak clearly, understand others and make friends. The earlier it starts, the more it helps.
What is speech and language therapy?
It helps children who find it hard to speak, understand language, express their thoughts or communicate with others. Therapy is play-based, interactive and built around your child’s interests.

Six areas of communication
Speech delay
Your child is not using the number of words expected for their age, or is hard to understand.
Speech sound disorders
Trouble saying certain sounds, for example saying “wabbit” for “rabbit”.
Language disorders
Trouble understanding what is said, forming sentences, or finding words.
Social (pragmatic) communication
Difficulty with conversation, taking turns, understanding jokes or sarcasm, or eye contact.
Stammering and voice
Support with fluency, breathing and rhythm.
Non-verbal or few words
We use picture exchange (PECS), sign, and assistive technology so that every child can communicate. Our team includes a senior speech-language therapist with experience in AAC assessment.
What a session looks like
- Articulation practice: games that focus on making sounds correctly
- Language building: storytelling, role-play and vocabulary games
- Social communication: one-to-one or small-group practice of conversation, turn-taking and body language
- Fluency and voice work: breathing and rhythm techniques
How you can help at home

Good questions to ask
When should I seek speech therapy?
If your child is not meeting speech milestones, is hard to understand, or struggles to understand language, speak to a therapist. You do not need to wait.
How long before we see results?
It depends on your child’s needs, how often they attend and how much practice happens at home. Some children improve within months. Others need longer-term support.
Can it help with reading?
Yes. Speech therapy builds sound awareness, vocabulary and understanding, all key to reading.
Do you work with non-verbal children?
Yes. We use picture systems, sign and technology to help every child communicate.
